The Pretty Wild release official music video for “zero.point.genesis”
Cover Photo By: Joshua ShultzJust last November, The Pretty Wild dropped a new album titled zero.point.gensis which has eleven tracks. This week, the official music video for its titular track, “zero.point.genesis,” was released. I had to go listen to this album alongside checking out the music video, and it did not disappoint. There’s an intricacy created in their sound and lyricism that just pushes the boundaries of hardcore bands.
The Pretty Wild are a sister-duo band from Las Vegas, and I don’t know how much I gush about my support for female-fronted bands and artists in the music industry. These two definitely know how to blend powerful vocals alongside the instruments, making these loud, beautiful songs.
I’m not even sure how I haven’t discovered them sooner since this album has a collaboration with pop punks Magnolia Park! I’ve seen that band at least five times in the same year alone, and they are amazing. I think on this point alone, I might be a little biased about which song from the LP is my favorite. This song is titled “AFTERLIFE,” and it features everything I’d expect from a song featuring Magnolia Park, since they have this certain sound I expect to hear in their music, yet it hits heavier since it’s The Pretty Wild’s. This is truly a perfect match in heaven. I need these two together now, like, can this happen? I want to know what this magic sounds like live and in person.
I got sidetracked in all this research about the band and single since I’m not actually all that familiar with The Pretty Wild. But you can bet they are on my radar now. I love the contrast between the clean vocals and the rap-synthesized sounds. It’s unique, different, unexpected, and all in all, a KILLER sound. I’m rocking out to this whole album.
Back to the music video now, I think the chaotic energy in the video reads into all the vibes amazingly. Vocalists Jyl and Jules Wylde sit back to back when the song opens up, while debris is flying all around the room. The wild feeling as the beat kicks in, and every time it picks up from slow moments, transitions are smooth, and it all works so well.
I’m obsessed with Jinjer. I’m obsessed with Lacuna Coil. I’m obsessed with Casket Robbery. I’m obsessed with Gore. NOW I am OBSESSED with The Pretty Wild.
If you want to catch this power duo on stage, there are several different places you can do that: they have two shows in Florida next month, then they’re hitting the road with Bloodywood starting April 10 in Des Moines, Iowa, and you can head on over to Sonic Temple in May, where they’ll be playing. I have some serious decisions on what shows I’m even going to be at this Spring because there’s so much overlap, and I unfortunately cannot be in more than one place at once. Don’t sleep on The Pretty Wild, check them out!
