Uncle Kracker Warms Up The Midwest At The Arcada Theater
The Arcada Theatre proved once again why it’s one of the most charming live music venues in the Midwest, glowing like a beacon against a cold, gray March night. Inside, though, the vibe was anything but gloomy. It was lively, exciting, and timeless.

Blending blues and bluegrass, Willis took the concept of a “one-man band” to another level, working an 11-piece drum setup entirely with his feet, without relying on loops or electronics. It was raw, real, and wildly impressive. Even his outfit told a story.

He closed with a jaw-dropping beatbox rendition of Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin) by Sly and the Family Stone. It was a bold, genre-bending finale that left the audience stunned and silent for a beat before erupting in applause.
Then came Uncle Kracker, who’s birth name is Matthew Shafer, a true veteran of genre fusion who’s spent more than 25 years blurring the lines between country, rock, hip-hop, and even reggae. From the moment he stepped on stage, that versatility was on full display. It was shown not just in his music, but in his style. He wore a Keith Whitley tee paired with a flat bill hat and chain, summed it up his country roots with a modern take.
He launched into the set with crowd favorite “Corner Bar.” The setlist leaned heavily into nostalgia, with just enough newer material like the breezy “Beach Chair” to keep things fresh and make people feel like it wasn’t 21 degrees outside. When the opening chords of “Follow Me” rang out, the crowd didn’t hesitate, singing every word back like it was 2001 all over again. In true Kracker fashion, he pivoted seamlessly into You Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC, keeping the energy high and the genre lines blurred.
Kracker barely stood still all night, covering every inch of the stage like he was chasing his step count. The genre-hopping continued with nods to country legends, weaving through songs like “The Gambler” by Kenny Rogers and “Neon Moon” from Brooks & Dunn, each one met with enthusiastic sing-alongs.
The night didn’t end quietly. Kracker returned for a 15-minute encore packed with feel-good hits, including “Smile” and the undeniable crowd-pleaser “All Summer Long,” which he co-wrote with Kid Rock, that had the entire room moving like it was the middle of July.

He’s still delivering the kind of easygoing, sun-soaked energy that fans crave, no matter the season. And if you’re lucky, you can catch that same warm-weather magic when he rolls through a festival near you this summer.
