Hudson Westbrook Brings Texas Country to the Midwest
The latest installment of the US99.5 Low Dough Show series brought one of country music's brightest young stars to town as Texas breakout artist Hudson Westbrook took the stage for an energetic, all-ages performance. Opening the night was Chicago's own South City Revival. Hailing from the Beverly neighborhood on the city's South Side, the band proved you don't have to be from Texas or Tennessee to play authentic country music. Their blue-collar roots and heartfelt sound connected immediately with the crowd, blending Southern rock influences with modern country storytelling. They proudly represented the South Side, showing that country music has a home in Chicago, too.

Hudson Westbrook took the stage to an audience leaned heavily toward high school and college-aged fans, many of whom knew every word to Westbrook's songs. From the moment he stepped on stage, the excitement was undeniable as fans sang along, cheered after every song, and packed the front of the venue.
Everything changed for Westbrook when his debut single, "Take It Slow," went viral online. He dropped out of Texas Tech going all in on his music career. Almost overnight, Westbrook transformed from a college student with a guitar into one of country music's fastest-rising artists. Now, at just 22 years old, he's headlining his own tour and was nominated for the 2026 Academy of Country Music Award for New Male Artist of the Year.

Hudson played a little bit of everything like songs off of his debut EP to his latest release “Hits Me.” His setlist reflected the experiences that have shaped his music. Songs filled with Texas pride, small-town memories, romance, and heartbreak resonated with the audience, while his easygoing personality made the performance feel genuine and personal. Rather than relying on elaborate staging or flashy production, Westbrook let the music do the talking. His strong vocals and honest songwriting kept fans engaged from beginning to end. One of the night's most memorable moments came when Westbrook paused to spend time with fans pressed against the barricade, taking selfies and sharing a few laughs before jumping back into the show. It's those personal interactions that have helped him build such a loyal following.

Westbrook closed the night with a string of fan favorites like “Sober” and “5 to 9.” The night ended with his breakout hit, "House Again," sending the crowd home singing along to the song that helped launch his career. Judging by the enthusiastic response, it won't be long before he's playing even larger venues. With new music on the horizon, a rapidly expanding tour schedule, and an increasingly devoted fan base, Hudson Westbrook appears poised to become one of country music's defining young voices.
