Trousdale Brings Powerpuff Girls Magic to a Sold-Out SPACE in Evanston
The atmosphere is electric at SPACE in Evanston, Illinois, where a sold-out crowd has packed the venue for an unforgettable night of music. As the lights are dimmed and anticipation fills the room, many excited attendees can be seen chatting, laughing, and posing for photos while wearing bright, fun Powerpuff Girls colors. The vibrant shades of pink, blue, and green create a playful sea of color throughout the audience, adding to the energy and excitement as everyone eagerly awaits the start of the performance.
All Photos By: Summer Lee PhotoOpening the evening is verygently, an up-and-coming indie band made up of talented Nashville singer-songwriters, one being an Illinois native. Their soulful harmonies and rich vocal blend immediately capture the audience's attention, weaving together indie-rock energy with modern storytelling. Drawing inspiration from classic singer-songwriter traditions and adding a touch of ’70s flair, the group creates a sound that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly current. Their authentic songwriting and effortless chemistry set the tone, leaving a lasting impression on concertgoers and showcasing a band clearly on the rise. With two EPs already released while touring since 2024, I will be looking forward to hearing their debut album, SORRY, SARAH, coming out on October 9th.
When Trousdale takes the stage, the infectious trio immediately ignites the room with their signature blend of high energy, sharp musicianship, and kitschy humor. Their performance balances playful banter with deeply resonant songwriting, creating a connection that feels both intimate and exhilarating. Among the evening’s standout moments is “Save Me,” a song inspired by an experience in which Quinn D’Andrea was subjected to unsolicited advice and explanations about her own career as a musician. The result is a clever, empowering anthem whose lyrics linger long after the final note.
Throughout the set, Trousdale’s impeccable harmonies remain the centerpiece of their sound, elevating every song and showcasing the remarkable chemistry between the three performers. With their distinctive fusion of folk roots and indie-pop charm, the trio delivers a performance that is as heartfelt as it is unforgettable. With crowd favorites like the Secondhand Smoke, Old Man, and Want Me Back, you wish the set were twice as long. During Movie Star, where the band made their way into the center of the crowd, bringing with them that intimate feel that most bands wish they could pull off. Lit mostly by cell phone flashlights, it was certainly an unforgettable moment.
Being the last stop on the Growing Pains (Deluxe) tour, Trousdale really brought the Powerpuff Girls magic! Make sure to listen to their current album, Growing Pains (Deluxe), out now. I guarantee you'll have some major earworms!
